Matthias Weise

was born in Leipzig. At the age of seven years he got first violin-lessons by his father, later on he received further education at Leipzig music school Johann Sebastian Bach.

In 1987 he began studying violin at the Academy of Music in Leipzig with Prof. Christoph Jacobi. Two years later he changed subject and joined Prof. Klaus Schwenke's viola class.

Beside many engagements in chamber music he was called as substitute to Leipzig Gewandhaus in 1991.

Since 1993 he has been a regular member of Gewandhaus Orchestra and thus travelled through the most famous concert halls all over the world.
